{Clippin'}

I kept reading all these blogs about people buying a cart full of groceries and only spending $3.79. I'm thinking to myself 1- These people have way too much time on their hands and 2- It has got to be illegal. Both reasons enough for me to not get into it.

Then, reality hit, and I came to terms with the fact that my current technique of grocery shopping has got to change. Sure I always do my best to buy store brand, skip out on the expensive wants for the cheaper needs, but I was still spending too much at the checkout! Plus, "with the economy like this" (that's for you Edna) who can't benefit from saving a little money in the grocery department.

So I decided to give it a shot. I can do this right? Attempt #1 was just coupon clipping and price matching while shopping at Walmart. That saved me about $10. Not enough. Attempt #2 was a little more successful and surprisingly occurred an Walgreens (a highly overpriced store in my opinion) Here is how it all went down:

9- Packages of Huggies Diapers
4-12 Packs of soda
2-Bottles of Tylenol
4-Boxes Ziploc Bags
1-Shampoo
1-Conditioner
5-Candies
2-Dish Soaps
Total Spent:$68.27

(I should have taken a picture...that's what all the hard core coupon clippers do!!)

I didn't think that was too bad. The major savings was on the diapers. That alone would have cost well over $70 by itself.

So, now I think I can do this. I found some helpful websites if you want to give it a try yourself. And let me know if you have any tricks of the trade. It may take me a while, but I can do this. I want a cart load of groceries for $3.79!!!!

Good for you!

I used to use lots of coupons, and it can be really worthwhile...unless you just buy a lot of stuff that you don't really want or need.

I'm with Tina on that one. I was doing coupons and I felt like I would always end up buying things I didn't really need or I was buying things that just weren't healthy...
but I have been meaning to get more organized and try again... we shall see :D
but way to go on the huggies! :D

I had a great "money saving day" at Walgreens yesterday! I got a coupon from the manufacturer of the medication I was buying! I had to register, but it only took a few minutes. I saved $60.00!
(I received the coupon from my doctor!)
It was a great high five to my son, he called and reigistered for me!

You should also try shopping at CVS-also known as CVSn'. It helps a lot too.
