I went camping. Real camping. It has been years...and I mean years...like 10+ since I have gone "real camping." Dean has been trying to get me to do it since we got married. I never gave in. Then I was called to Young Women's. In Young Women's you go camping. It's hard to tell them no. So I went. Here's proof:
When we got there, it was ridiculously windy! One of the men that came to help was struggling to get the tents set up. We were finally able to get them all up, made and ate dinner/dessert, had s'mores, did camp certification and were off to bed. So we thought. The wind blew so hard all night. It was nearly impossible to get to sleep. We had lined the vehicles up to block the wind and even tied the tents to them, but the wind was too strong. Nobody could sleep. Finally at 4am, I covered my head with my sleeping bag and dozed off. By morning (7am mind you), only 3 leaders and 4 of 17 girls remained in tents. The rest has sought shelter in cars. The wind collapsed 2 tents, destroying the tent poles. All the tents had holes in them, some completely ripped at the seams! It was quite an adventure! But that did not deter the girls. They made a delicious breakfast and were ready to go canoeing. They jumped in the water without fear and even flipped the canoes on purpose! Although the night was rough...the whole experience was good...maybe camping isn't as bad as I thought...maybe!

I usually don't mind camping, but I almost always never sleep very well and always have to go in the middle of the night to do to the bathroom! Being out in the wind for a long time is hard too,it's always nice to go in after!
So you tell this miserable sounding story, and then you say it is not so bad. Good for you!
Way to go out of your comfort zone! :) Does this mean you're going to girls camp?
That was crazy wind, but way to go to you and the girls for not giving up!
