Based on the attire parents send their kids to preschool in, you would think it was snowing outside, rather than just a pleasant drop in temperature. So since the other children were wearing pants and sweatshirts, Lauren insisted on wearing her jacket to preschool yesterday. Yes it is still almost 90* here... fine, whatever. Pick your battles right?
So off the preschool she goes, beads of sweat forming on her forehead, happily wearing a jacket. After preschool, I picked her up and drove away, when I realized we forgot the beloved jacket. Instead of keeping my mouth shut and getting it the next day, I mentioned she forgot it. The waterworks start and I ultimately turned around. Of course, when I go in to retrieve the jacket it isn't there. Another girl apparently took Lauren's and left hers.
Me: Lauren your jacket wasn't there. Another girl must have taken it. We will get it from her tomorrow.
Lauren (through the tears-with full sincerity): But all my things are special to me. My jacket is special to me.
Me (suppressing laughter): Yes honey, I know your things are special, we will get it tomorrow.
Sometimes, I wonder where she comes up with these things! Oh, to spend a day in her mind!
