{Warning: Delivery Story Ahead--skip to the pictures if you don't want to know the boring details- Although I promise it isn't gory!}

I was scheduled for induction Monday night {Oct 31st@3 days late} and was told to call at 8:30 pm and plan on arriving at 9:30pm. At 7pm, the hospital called and asked if we could be there by 8pm. Ummm...yes please! We loaded up our stuff, got the kids settled at Grandma and Grandpa Farar's and headed for the hospital. After checking in, M {my midwife} came in to hash out the plan. Because I had not changed since my last doctor visit {aka not dilated, effaced, Bailey had not dropped, etc} the debate was whether to start straight with the pitocin or try out cytotec {the least desirable-slow route} first.

The nurse then mentioned she could not tell if Bailey was head down or not. Since I had already been to the hospital once for an external version {she flipped on her own} they decided they better verify she was head-down before starting any drugs. Sure enough, the ultrasound confirmed that she was still transverse!! {She had no intentions of coming out on her own anytime soon!}

Luckily Dr. V. was on call and M asked him to come do the external version. Boy howdy was that uncomfortable/painful/not my favorite thing on earth! Finally, Bailey turned and stayed in place! Dr V. and M conversed and decided to go straight for the pitocin. We "slept" through the night and woke at about 5am. Finally, after hours of full power pitocin, I was dilated to a 3! Woo Hoo- Go Me! M broke my water and the waiting game continued. At about 6am the contractions were increasing and I requested my epidural. M suggested I wait until after 7am for the more experienced anesthesiologist and she gave me a narcotic via IV to hold me over. That was awful! It definitely took the edge off, but also made me so dizzy and sick. {Lesson Learned:Don't Do Drugs!}

Finally by 7:15 my epidural arrived, of course she had a hard time getting it in {apparently I have a lot of cartilage on my back} and by 7:30 {yes, like 15 minutes later!} it was completely worn off! The anesthesiologist, of course, was stuck in a C-section and could not come back and give me more! That's when the tears started. I have never been in so much pain and I cried like a baby!!! Sometime around 9:30 {yes, 2 hours later} the anesthesiologist returned and hooked up the epidural and gave me more drugs. But guess what!?! It was only working on the right side of my body! {But half the pain was way better then all of it!} About 20 minutes later, the nurse checked me and said "Um, it's time to push, but don't do it yet!" M had gone to the office to take care of her appointments and we had to wait for her to come back!! Amazingly she got back in less than 10 minutes. Three contractions later, Bailey arrived screaming at 10:13am and I cried like a baby, again!

I was so glad to be done and pain free and even more happy to be holding our sweet Baby Bailey!

With one tired but happy Daddy!:

Meeting Big Sister Lauren:

Meeting Big Sister Kylee:

Lauren and Kylee came to meet Bailey later that day. Both were completely exhausted and had not slept well the night before at Grandmas. Both thought she was really cute and were happy to see her. Kylee loved exploring the hospital room and their visit was quite short. However, there will be plenty of time for them to get to know each other in the days ahead!

We are so glad Bailey is finally here {even if we had to force her here!}!!

I'm so excited for you!! That epidural story sounded EXACTLY like what happened to me!! Now you can say you've experienced natural labor though, right? :) She is so beautiful!

EPIDURALS...a love hate relationship. With Madelyn it only worked down one side(I thought i was going to die). With Marcus it wore off 30 minutes before I started pushing(luckily I got re-dosed before the pushing). And with Brian...well, I guess the third time was a charm for me.

CONGRATS!!!!!!!!

Ugh! I hate when they tell you to get some rest after they give you pitocin. Yeah Right! But it's totally worth it! What a beautiful girl. Can't wait to meet her.

Such a beautiful little girl! Pitocin is evil. The end.
My first epidural didn't go too well... seeing as how they nicked my spinal column... ah... good times :P
It's all worth it in the end though... right? :)
