{Moving On}

Lauren is officially a first grader!  On Wednesday, all the Kindergarten classes had a water day.  That morning, Lauren was awake by 6 and bouncing off the walls.  She was so excited for Water Day!  According to her, it was going to be "the best day ever!" There was blow up water slides, bubbles, games, snow cones and tons of other fun water activities for them to do, for almost 3 hours!  That afternoon, the parents were invited to watch a slide show that her awesome teacher had put together. It was tons of pictures of all the kids throughout the year, set to sad-tear inducing-songs! Then she handed out awards.  Lauren earned Honor Roll,  a Certificate of Excellence for achieving her personal best and a Recycling Helper certificate {I love how in Kinder-everything deserves a certificate!}.

Thursday was their official Kindergarten Program.  The kids sang 4 songs: What a Wonderful World, the School Song, God Bless America and First Grade, First Grade.  They were so cute and they sang their little hearts out!  Lauren had a speaking part, which was: "We're ready for first grade!" and she did a great job saying it too!  Each child then received a graduation certificate.  Lauren also earned Principal's Honor Roll {having honor roll all year}, and she was the one girl, out of all kindergartners, chosen to receive an award from her Character Counts teacher for being an "example of good character."

She earned all 3's and 4's on her report card {meets/exceeds} and I love how she has improved drastically on her reading and writing.  She had an amazing teacher and fantastic aides that she loved.  It's hard to believe she is already moving on to first grade!  She kept telling me how sad she was to leave her teacher and friends, but I know she will love next year's teacher and make great new friends.  She is such a wonderful little Kindergartner and she is going to make on Fantastic First Grader!
