I was not prepared for Father's Day this year and Sunday morning came and I (we) had nothing for Dean. Luckily he doesn't care about those kinda things...however, I think he will hold it over my head at some point so he can get something he wants. But in my defense...it was a crazy weekend.
However, Dean is a wonderful dad and that's what counts. I think if Lauren had to pick, she would choose him over me in a heartbeat. (But that's okay... I don't blame her!) I am just grateful that my kids have a dad that will play with them, read to them, make up silly songs, change their diapers (with only a little complaining), stay up with them all night when they can't sleep, just keep holding them even though they are throwing up all over, keep his composure in emergencies (since their mother will have already lost it and be standing in the corner crying). They are lucky to have a dad that will take them to church every Sunday, that will teach them to read the scriptures, say their prayers and have faith. Even though their mother may be crazy...they have a wonderful father to compensate!Just like my kids...I have a crazy mother and a wonderful father! (Sorry mom--I still love you!) I love my dad. He is a very patient man, he may drive us all crazy sometimes, but I know he loves us and loves our kids. I like to think he is the smartest man I know...I don't know where he gets it, but he retains information like a sponge. He always has time for us and wants us to do our best; like having the tallest straw tower in 8th grade (which I did by the way, with a little engineering help from dad), or having the coolest awards for the student counsel conference my senior year (he helped me turn GI Joe's into trophies) or finishing 4 years of college without paying a dime in tuition (he said I had to pay for it myself if I wanted to go-I actually made a $1000+). I could go on and on, but I guess my point is, that even though my dad told Dean when he asked him if he could marry me (and I quote) "If you take her, you can't bring her back." I like to think he still loves me and I love him and that's all that matters!
