Some houses try to hide the fact
That children shelter there,
Ours boasts it quite openly,
The signs are everywhere.
For smears are on the windows,
Little smudges are on the doors
I should apologize, I guess
For toys strew on the floor.
But I sat down with my child
And we played and laughed and read
And if the doorbell doesn’t shine,
Her eyes will shine instead.
For when at times I’m forced to choose
The one job or the other,
I’d like to cook and clean and scrub,
But first I’ll be a mother.

thanks! I was needing that reminder :)
Thank you! You have no idea how much I really needed to hear that today. I have the rest of my life to keep my house spotless. I only have a few years with my children while they are young.
I've heard that poem before! Thanks for posting it!!! :) I was just telling Darin last night how much I LOVE seeing Karidee's toys every where. It's a sweet feeling to know a happy baby lives in our home! :)
Thanks for the reminder, I needed that! I try not to let it bother me when people come over and the house is a mess, but it usually is these days anyway. But it's hard!
Love that poem! I wish everyone could understand that! :-) Your blog is so cute and hilarious!
