This is what greeted us as we drove into the Flagstaff area for our trip to the Polar Express:
Can you say FREEZING! When I checked the weather before leaving, and the high said 33*, I knew we were going to be totally out of our element! Luckily we have friends and relatives, that recently moved to Yuma from colder parts of the country with snow clothes that we could borrow!
Right outside our hotel room was a nice patch of snow that the kids loved playing in.
Bradley and Johanna were even adventurous enough to help the kids make a big snowman. We were limited on snowman supplies, so we made do with ritz-bitz for the face and buttons and a mohawk!
The next morning, after eating breakfast, we let the kids play in the snow one last time.
It was hard to tell who was having more fun: the kids or their fathers! Dean and Bradley figured out that, rather than actually hitting us women with the snowballs, if they hit the cars, the snowballs would explode all over us! They tested their theory over and over and over again!
It was fun to get all bundled up and watch the kids enjoy the snow, but it sure made me grateful to live in the snow-less desert!
Note: Before we left for Flagstaff, Kylee had a mild fever. We gave her meds and hoped all would be well. She did really good until Friday night when it was time to leave the train station and head back to the hotel. We had a really rough night with her and got very little sleep. By morning her fever had dropped, but we could tell she felt crummy. We left Flagstaff and headed to Phoenix for a quick visit with my sister and then home where it is a lot easier to care for sick babies! It sure made for a stressful and tiring night, but we were grateful it did not ruin the trip all together.

Glad you got to enjoy the snow and cold of winter! I kinda missed that when I was in Yuma. Now, it's about about 30 degrees a lot. And we love playing in the snow!
