{Painting Pumpkins}

We took a non-traditional route with the pumpkin carving this year. Since we live in Yuma and it is still warm on Halloween {yes, my A/C is still on} carving your pumpkins any sooner than the week of Halloween {and sometimes that's too soon!}, results in a nasty, wilted mushy mess of a pumpkin!

Then on top of that, this month has been CRAZY and this past week was no exception. So during Sunday's family planning, we realized the only night open for carving pumpkins was...well...never! We were booked every night!

So by the time Saturday afternoon rolled around, 1 hour before the trunk-or-treat, I pulled out the paints and let Lauren paint her pumpkin! I just knew there would not be time to get 2 pumpkins carved AND cleaned up before we needed to go {plus I was just not in the mood!} Painting pumpkins was the perfect alternative and Lauren loved it! Plus now they will possibly last through Thanksgiving!

Dean loved every minute of this. Can't you tell?:

Kylee just liked eating the paint brushes!:

I was there too. See:

And I painted this one. I can't resist the polka-dots!:

I am not sure what we will do with them after the holidays though.
Perhaps they will meet their doom in the desert...with me...and some ammo!
{I think we may have found ourselves a new family tradition!!}
