{Battalion}

Next stop: San Diego Mormon Battalion Historic Site

Lauren has been begging me to take her to a museum for a while. We are kind of limited here in the museum department, so I decided to plan a trip to the MBHS while we were in San Diego, especially when I heard about all the fun things there was for the kids to do. So Friday morning we headed over. The kids went for a "ride" in a covered wagon and then the tour began with a video and fun interactive rooms. The kids got to dress up like the members of the battalion. Lauren was the laundress of the group.

In the last room, there was a place you could look to see if any of your ancestors were part of the battalion, a computer game for kids to mine for gold, a real cannon, other artifacts and a place to take a family picture!

Kylee found a horse to ride:

Outside there is a place to pan for gold, make bricks, and do laundry. Dean could have panned for gold all day and he actually found a lot. Too bad it wasn't real gold!

Once the sister missionary taught Lauren how to wash the clothes with the wash board, she was in heaven! She just washed and washed and washed!

Now if I could just teach her to do it at home!

Happy Kylee:

We had a good time at the museum and it was cool to learn about the history of the Battalion. I look forward to taking the kids back again when they are older and can understand more!
