THE BEACH!

We had a picnic in the grassy area and then headed down to the sand and water.


Kylee loved digging in the sand:

Where was I, you ask? In jeans sitting on a blanket, far from the water. I would have been sitting on a park bench back by the car, but you can't get good pictures from there....and I was trying to not be a party pooper, for the kids sake. Whenever we would go to the beach when I was younger, I usually sat on the boardwalk with my dad and watched while my mom and sister frolicked in the sand. But I am getting better. I'm learning to appreciate the beach, by ignoring the sand between my toes, avoiding the freezing cold water, all while covered in SPF 70. Surprisingly our last two beach trips have been fun and seeing the girls' smiles and pure joy makes it worth it. {My determination to have a positive attitude helps, I'm sure.} Give me a couple more trips and I might put on a suit and get wet above the ankles. Maybe.
