{4th of July}

This summer we stayed home from all of our traditional summer vacations. This was the first year of our 8 years of marriage that we did not go to Utah {with a stop off in Idaho} for the 4th of July! {and only the 2 time in my LIFE that I have not been there}. It was nice to not have to spend a billion hours in the car, but I sure missed our family and the small town celebration for Independence Day {and the cooler weather of course}.

Sunday night, we had Super Family Home Evening with the Thorsons/Browns. On the way home, we happened to catch a great {really long} fireworks show that we chased to the other end of town. Lauren loved it all and called out every one she saw. Kylee wasn't too thrilled with it all and just demanded that her Daddy hold her.

Monday morning, we woke the kids bright and early for the ward breakfast. It included a flag raising, small program and yummy pancakes!

Monday evening we headed out to Bradley and Johanna's for a BBQ. The kids had fun playing and swimming in the pools:

Once it got dark, the kids could see another fireworks show, way off in the distance, but only when they stood on the top of the swing set. Once they were tired of that, we got out our fireworks. They weren't anything special, but everyone managed to make some fun of it.

Ryan and Lauren with their pop-its:

We finally convinced them to give the sparklers a try:

Then things got a little crazy when Bradley jumped in:

Then it was an all out show with Bradley AND Dean!
They were having way too much fun!:

So although we stayed home, we managed to have a great time celebrating our freedoms and the blessings we enjoy, living in the U.S.A!

We missed you all this year. I'm glad you were able to see some fireworks, but you missed out. The Richfield fireworks were really good this year. And the Anderson's took us to see a firework show that some local guy puts on with his own homemade fireworks. It was CRAZY!!!
