{$10 Picnic Adventure}

Since Monday was a holiday, I really wanted to go spend the day in San Diego.
When I say really, I mean REALLY!
I could picture us enjoying the wonderful weather. Sea World. The Aquarium. The Beach. {Yes! Even the beach! And I hate the beach!}

Unfortunately it didn't happen.

The next best option: the Lake. {ok, maybe not the NEXT best, but it worked}

We like to drive around in the car and look for new things to see. We call them our Adventures. Lauren dubbed this trip our "Picnic Adventure." We loaded up the kids, a picnic lunch, sunscreen and towels {this will be important later}! Although a majority of the time was spent driving around, the kids were still having fun in the car.

After not finding a good place at Martinez Lake, we stopped at YPG to let the kids get out and see the military vehicles on the way to Senator's Wash.

{I love when Kylee smiles like this!}

At the Wash {after paying the ridiculous $10 day pass fee} we found the perfect place to have a picnic and then let the kids throw rocks in the water. The water had receded so there was a lot of mud, which led to muddy shoes and muddy kids! But I figured, who cares! We are on an adventure!

After letting them play for a while, we decided to head home. It was a great $10 Picnic Adventure and the kids had fun! {Even if it wasn't San Diego!}

Wait! What about the towels you ask?
As we were leaving, a lady slipped down the boat ramp and landed in the water. They had just come to "see" the lake and had not been prepared to "get in" it! I overheard her telling her husband to get a grocery bag out of the trunk for her to sit on! Holding back laughter, I ran to the car and grabbed one of my "just in case my kid falls in the water" towel and handed it to the husband. "You can keep it!" I said. For once my over-preparedness came in handy!

What a fun day! I bet that lady never forgets to bring a towel when she's near water again.
