{It Never Rains Here}

Dean and his BFF have been trying to organize a family outing in the desert for months {maybe even years}. The stars finally aligned {read: the wives finally agreed} and we all got together this past weekend. As luck would have it, it started raining! But hey, we are in Yuma, it never rains here, or at least not for long. So we decided to press our luck and go anyway.

Well it didn't stop raining and I am sure we looked ridiculous out in the dessert in the rain, trying to start a fire. The boys gathered wood and with much skill and effort had a fire blazing within minutes. In case you can't quite form the mental picture of what it is like to start a fire in the rain, here is some help:

This is what it looks like trying to start a fire in the rain in the desert:

This is what you do once the fire is started and it is still raining in the desert:

This is what your kids look like while playing in the rain in the desert:

This is where you stick your babies when you are in the rain in the desert:

The boys gave the rain 20 minutes to quit. If it didn't, we were leaving.
It didn't, so we left.
Since we had so much fun, we will probably go again soon.
Hopefully we will be smart enough to check the weather first.
Since it never rains here.

Man! I did an awesome job holding up that umbrella!!! And, I think if it hadn't been raining, we would have had a great time!!!

They should be lucky we even let them take us out there...even if we didn't stay out there too long.

I think we should surprise them and plan the next outing!! haha. Nah!
